The Director of Parts and Service is responsible for the leadership, coordination and operational oversight of the Company's fleet maintenance program, including motorcoaches, minibuses, school buses, support vehicles, facilities, equipment and related infrastructure.

The Director of Parts and Service is accountable for ensuring the safety, reliability, regulatory compliance and cost-effective operation of the Company's fleet while supporting organizational objectives through effective leadership, planning and continuous improvement of maintenance operations.

Service Operations Management

  • Establish KPIs (uptime, turnaround time, cost per km, inventory turns)
  • Oversee all preventative maintenance (PM) and repair programs
  • Ensure consistent inspection standards and compliance (DOT, provincial, safety programs)
  • Ensure efficient work order flow, scheduling, and prioritization
  • Foster a safety-first, accountability-driven culture

Parts & Inventory Management

  • Develop and execute the parts & service strategy aligned with company operational goals
  • Lead procurement and inventory strategy for parts and supplies
  • Optimize stock levels / min-max threshold, vendor selection and pricing agreements, and inventory accuracy.
  • Implement systems for tracking usage, forecasting demand, and reducing obsolescence.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements
  • Monitor vendor performance and service quality
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across parts operations
  • Support capital planning (fleet replacement, tooling, shop upgrades)

Compliance & Safety

  • Chair the OHS Committee
  • Schedule and lead regular safety meetings
  • Set agendas and ensure meaningful discussion of safety issues
  • Ensure minutes, action items, and follow-ups are completed and tracked
  • Ensure adherence to, regulatory requirements, company safety programs and environmental standards
  • Complete inspections, ensure equipment and safety related training is complete and up to date
  • Support audits and implement corrective actions
  • Partner closely with safety teams on incident investigations
  • Oversee maintenance and inventory systems (e.g., Fleet Management Software)
  • Ensure accurate data capture for work orders, parts usage and labor tracking
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and insights
Qualifications
  • Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification - an asset
  • Valid driver's licence (Class 2 or 3 with air brake endorsement considered an asset).
  • Several years of progressively responsible Truck and Transport/Bus mechanical/leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring apprentices or leading teams is considered an asset.
