Responsabilités

The Stewardship and Donor Relations Officer will be a strong relationship-builder who's passionate about creating meaningful donor experiences and demonstrating impact that inspires ongoing engagement and support for students.

Reporting to the Manager, Fund Development and Strategic Partnerships, you will form part of the Development team, helping grow and evolve the Foundation and Alumni Relations' stewardship and donor engagement program and contribute to the delivery of exceptional donor experiences. You will work collaboratively across the Foundation and Alumni Relations department and broader College community.

Your role will be to design meaningful donor experience and reports, coordinate recognition activities that demonstrate the impact of giving, support the Foundation and Alumni Relations' strategic goals and strengthen relationships between donors and the Foundation. You are responsible for honouring donor gift intent as set out in the donor recognition plans and gift agreements.

You will be responsible for communicating the impact of donor and partner contributions through creative storytelling, personalized reporting and using a variety of communication channels. You will be required to track reporting requirements and timelines set by external funding partners and work internally with stakeholder departments to complete reporting requirements.

Please note that Foundation & Alumni Relations staff are required to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum education qualification for this position is a degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Fundraising or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • You have a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment of a fundraising organization with database experience, preferably a CRM database; ideally Raiser's Edge or RE NXT.

  • You have experience in writing and drafting publications, reports or proposals. Experience writing for different communication channels would be considered an asset.

  • You have experience in the planning and execution of events. Experience in planning stewardship or donor events would be considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management; coordinating, planning and executing initiatives with the ability to work collaboratively with a number of different stakeholders and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated capacity to handle high volume of strictly confidential matters with discretion and tact.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors and/or partners.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite. Experience with the Adobe Suite would be considered an asset.

  • A valid NS Driver's Licence would be considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising processes and systems; and familiarity with Association of Fundraising Professionals ethics and standards would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to take responsibility, to work well as a team member and to work independently.

  • Ability to understand and follow direction and complex policies and procedures.

  • Understanding of current and emerging best practices in stewardship and donor engagement and comprehensive understanding of the Donor Cycle.

  • Ability to direct, influence and manage several functions simultaneously.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Advancement principles including capital campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, legacy gifts, etc.

  • Strong sense of ethics, professionalism and patience.
