We are a specialized electrical engineering consulting firm focused on delivering high quality design, analysis, and technical support for municipal, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Our work includes control systems, power distribution, automation, instrumentation, and commissioning support for clients across Nova Scotia. We are growing and looking to add a motivated Electrical Engineering Technologist to support our design team.

This role is ideal for graduates of the NSCC Electrical Engineering Technology program (or similar programs) with relevant industry experience being an asset.

Position Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technologist will work closely with our engineers and designers to support the development of electrical control and power system designs, technical documentation, and field activities. This position includes both office-based/remote design work and occasional site visits.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

• Prepare and update AutoCAD electrical drawings, including:
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Control schematics
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Panel layouts
  • I/O lists and cable schedules
• Assist with electrical control system design, including control panel layouts, instrumentation integration, and motor control systems.
• Support power distribution design, including load calculations, equipment selection, and coordination with utilities.

Technical Analysis & Documentation

• Perform electrical studies, such as:
  • Short-circuit analysis
  • Arc flash calculations
  • Load flow and voltage drop analysis
• Assist in preparing:
  • Technical reports
  • Specifications
  • Bill of materials
  • Submittal packages
  • As-built documentation
  • Cost estimates
• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, utility requirements).

Project & Site Support

• Participate in site visits for data collection, inspections, and verification of existing conditions.
• Provide site administration support, including:
  • Reviewing contractor work
  • Responding to RFIs
  • Tracking deficiencies
  • Documenting progress
• Support commissioning activities, including:
  • Equipment functional testing
  • Control system verification
  • Field troubleshooting
  • Coordination with contractors and clients

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
• Contribute to internal design standards, templates, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (NSCC or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical experience considered an asset).
• Understanding of electrical control systems, power distribution, and industrial equipment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Assets:

• Experience in consulting engineering or industrial electrical environments.
• Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation.
• Experience with electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
• Knowledge of municipal or industrial project environments.
• CSA/CEC code knowledge and practical application experience.
