ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Central Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time Hospitalist Physician at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, NL.

The Hospitalist will work independently providing services in chronic disease management, acute inpatient care, long-term care, palliative care, respite care, and emergency care and patient stabilization. The position is responsible for daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations, family meetings, and availability to review patients during working hours. The position provides inpatient care and onsite call coverage. This opportunity is open to physicians with a background in Family Medicine.

James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre is a regional referral centre serving the Central Zone, providing a broad range of secondary services to the communities of central Newfoundland.

Gander is a welcoming and well-serviced community in central Newfoundland, known for its friendly residents, rich aviation heritage, and easy access to the natural beauty of the region — including world-class salmon fishing, hiking, and stunning wilderness landscapes.

QUALIFICATIONS

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care including clinical assessments and medical oversight
  • Manage patients with chronic disease, acute care, palliative care, respite care, and emergency stabilization
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations and family meetings
  • Provide onsite call coverage as required
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is Fee-For-Service / Sessional in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) Payment Schedule.
