Accounting Clerk

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Accounting Clerk in Finance. The Accounting Clerk performs various advanced clerical and administrative accounting functions, particularly in the area of accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Duties:

Duties include:

• accounts payable activities such as matching invoices to purchase orders;
• entering related data into accounting system;
• receiving, reviewing and processing vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and payment terms;
• completing payment runs;
• reconciling vendor statements and following up on discrepancies;
• maintaining vendor accounts;
• responding to inquiries about payments;
• performing accounts receivable activities such as preparing and issuing customer invoices, monitoring accounts receivable aging and following up on overdue accounts;
• applying payments to customer accounts, reconciling balances and following up on billing issues and account discrepancies; maintaining customer records;
• assisting with cash collection activities and customer correspondence;
• posting payments for internal /employee receivables;
• assisting with distribution of invoices and payments;
• maintaining electronic and physical filing systems and related document retention schedules;
• ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures;
• performing cashroom duties including sorting and packaging coin;
• preparing coin and deposit slips for daily deposit;
• supporting month-end and year-end closing activities;
• assisting with audit requests and documentation gathering; acting as back-up for the Accountant;
• and performing related duties as required.

Qualifications:

This position requires completion of an accounting program, supplemented by a minimum of one (1) year of related experience in an accounting environment with particular emphasis on accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
