Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, CMB Capital Ventures Inc., is currently seeking an organized and motivated Financial Controller to join their expanding team, in Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador.

As a Certified Indigenous Business recognized by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, CMB manages corporate operations spanning finance, accounting, and capital project cost reporting.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Financial Controller will oversee the financial management of the CMB Group of Companies, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, effective accounting operations, and informed business decision-making.
Financial Operations & Reporting:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations across multiple companies.
- Lead AP, AR, bookkeeping, reconciliations, general ledger management, and related accounting functions.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.
- Prepare and file HST, GST, payroll, and other required government remittances.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support ownership in making informed business decisions.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, support, and develop accounting and administrative team members.
- Manage workloads, priorities, and performance while fostering a positive and accountable team environment.
- Coach and mentor team members and promote continuous improvement.
Banking, Compliance & Risk:
- Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, lenders, external accountants, and financial advisors.
- Coordinate year-end activities and financial reporting with external accountants.
- Prepare financial information for financing applications, lending requirements, capital purchases, and other initiatives.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislation, tax requirements, and company policies.
Business Support & Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Support acquisitions, capital projects, new business initiatives, and other strategic priorities.
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and provide recommendations to support business performance and growth.
- Work collaboratively with ownership, managers, employees, and external partners while managing competing priorities and maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- CPA designation or working towards it.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a similar financial leadership or Controller role.
- Experience overseeing accounting operations and leading a team.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Experience working with multiple companies, business entities, or complex accounting environments is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, analytical, administrative, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Results-driven, motivated, and committed to continuous improvement.
