Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client Adventure Sales & Service, are seeking a Powersports Dealership Controller, to join their team in Gander, NL.

Position Summary: A Powersports Dealership Controller manages the unique financial complexities of a dealership selling Travel trailers, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, boats, and trailers. Operating as a key strategic partner to the General Manager, this role maintains tight internal controls and manages high-volume inventory financing across diverse manufacturers (such as Polaris, CF Moto, Mercury Marine, TYM Tractors, Forest River, Thor Industries).

The Powersports Dealership Controller leads the financial and administrative operations of the dealership. This role oversees all accounting functions, maintains precise records, and generates timely monthly financial statements in accordance with diverse manufacturer requirements. The Controller enforces internal controls and provides critical unit-inventory and margin analyses to Management to help optimize profitability across Sales, Parts, and Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory & Floor Plan Management

  • Reconcile monthly floor plan statements across multiple powersports lenders and manufacturers (e.g., Wells Fargo CDF, Huntington).
  • Track unit margins and funding closely, ensuring all units sold are paid off promptly (Paid-When-Sold compliance) to avoid interest penalties.
  • Manage parts and apparel inventory accounting, coordinating regular physical counts and auditing obsolescence reserves.

Financial Reporting & Management

  • Prepare monthly financial statements according to individual powersports manufacturer formats and deadlines.
  • Maintain the Daily Operating Control (DOC) to provide management with a real-time snapshot of dealership performance.
  • Monitor seasonal cash flow cycles, forecasting cash needs to navigate predictable seasonal dips in inventory sales.
  • Review and reconcile all scheduled accounts, including factory receivables, finance/insurance (F&I) product reserves, and co-op advertising funds.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Design and enforce internal controls to safeguard high-value unit inventory, parts, and cash flow.
  • Streamline the deal-jacket process, ensuring Sales, F&I, and Accounting workflows communicate seamlessly to speed up bank funding.

Human Resources & Payroll Administration

  • Process full-cycle payroll for all dealership employees, accurately calculating complex automotive/powersports pay plans (base pay, hourly flag rates, flat-rate service commissions, and tiered sales bonuses).
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including background checks, and setting up system credentials.
  • Administer employee benefits packages, handling health insurance enrollment, workers' compensation claims, and paid time off (PTO) tracking.
  • Maintain digital employee files in strict compliance with federal, provincial, and local labor laws, ensuring confidentiality of medical and personal data.
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employee inquiries regarding pay errors, benefits questions, and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent progressive dealership experience).
  • 5+ years of dealership accounting experience, with a strong preference for powersports, marine, RV, or Automotive environments.
  • Proficiency with Powersports Management Systems (DMS) such as DX1, Lightspeed EVOX, or CDK.
  • Proven track record managing a full month-end close process and handling complex, multi-line OEM accounting.
