The Opportunity
As a member of the Generation Engineering team, you will provide electrical engineering expertise and project leadership for capital upgrades and asset management initiatives across hydroelectric, thermal, and general property assets. You will lead projects through all phases, including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and contractor management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, designing, and managing electrical system upgrade projects.
- Developing technical specifications and supporting equipment procurement.
- Reviewing and approving protection and control single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel layouts, and related engineering deliverables.
- Supporting protection relay settings, logic development, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Providing technical support to generating station operations, maintenance programs, and asset management initiatives.
- Managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and contractor performance to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, operations personnel, consultants, and external contractors.
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience, preferable within electric utilities, power generation, industrial facilities, or other critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience leading complex capital projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Experience with power systems, protection and control systems, electrical design, generation assets, and asset management programs.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, and effectively manage consultants and contractors.
- Strong project management, planning, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel to sites as required.
