Job Description:
Reporting to the East Coast Drilling Superintendent, the Offshore Lead Supervisor provides leadership to the Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) team in all activities for the well construction or intervention project. As the senior Company representative on the facility, the Lead Supervisor ensures safe, regulatory compliant and efficient operations in accordance with company Code of Business Conduct, established procedures and well specific programs. The Lead Supervisor is the focal point for all day-to-day contacts with the Drilling Contractor to ensure company meet Business Plan objectives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, well integrity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of offshore well operations.
- Ensure all well construction and intervention activities are executed safely and in accordance with approved well site programs, company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison between the operator, drilling contractor and third-party service providers.
- Coordinate completion, intervention and well operations to achieve project objectives.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE, environmental and well integrity requirements.
- Lead daily operational planning meetings and participate in risk assessments, SIMOPS reviews and pre-job planning.
- Monitor operational performance, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure contractor performance meets contractual, operational and quality expectations.
- Review and approve operational reports, daily drilling reports and key performance metrics.
- Support emergency response activities and provide leadership during abnormal or emergency operations.
- Coordinate equipment, materials and logistics to ensure uninterrupted drilling operations.
- Ensure regulatory documentation, permits and operational records are completed accurately and submitted as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve well operations performance, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Mentor junior personnel and promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the project team.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Engineering degree
- Minimum 20 years' experience in offshore drilling, well construction, well intervention, and well operations, including supervisory responsibility on offshore drilling facilities.
Required certifications:
- IWCF/IADC or Well CAPP Offshore Floating Well Control Certification (Supervisor Level)
- IWCF Intervention Well Control (Level 4)
- Offshore survival and medical certification
- H2S Alive (where required)
