The Chapman Group is helping its client, Mawiw Council Inc., recruit 3 Navigation Coordinators for its community. The Navigation Coordinator is one of approximately 80 tribal councils in Canada. It is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors comprised of Chiefs of partnering First Nations: Neqotkuk, Elsipogtog, and Esgenoôpetitj. As a tribal council, Mawiw is mandated to provide capacity-building services to its three partnering First Nations. Their organization receives core funding from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and project-based funding from a number of federal, provincial and other sources.

Position Summary

Note: Mawiw Council Inc is recruiting for 3 separate individuals to represent three Mawiw Council community locations, Neqotkuk, Elsipogtog and Esgenoôpetitj.

The Jordan's Principle Navigation Coordinator plays a key role in supporting children and families by ensuring timely, equitable access to services through Jordan's Principle. This position focuses on reducing barriers and advocating for the needs of children by guiding families through available supports, coordinating services, and strengthening communication between families, communities, and service providers. The Coordinator works closely with Mawiw communities to ensure services are culturally appropriate, responsive, and family-centred.

Responsabilités
  • Serve as the first point of contact for children and families seeking support through Jordan's Principle
  • Provide direct navigation support by helping families understand, access, and apply for services and supports
  • Advocate on behalf of children to ensure their needs are met in a timely and equitable manner
  • Build trusting relationships with children, youth, and families to better understand their needs and priorities
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Jordan's Principle policies, processes, and database systems to support efficient case navigation
  • Support families in navigating Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and other relevant programs and services
  • Work collaboratively with community departments, health, education, and social programs to coordinate holistic supports for children and families
  • Schedule and facilitate regular meetings in Mawiw communities to share information, hear directly from families, and identify service gaps
  • Assist in developing and sharing clear, accessible, and culturally relevant information for families and communities
  • Support the development of communication tools and resources that empower families to make informed decisions
  • Keep social media platforms updated with timely information, resources, and supports available to children and families
  • Track and document service requests and outcomes to support continuous improvement and responsiveness to family needs
Qualifications
  • Experience working with Jordan's Principle
  • Strong knowledge of case management and database systems
  • Experience supporting children and families, preferably within First Nations communities
  • Knowledge of NIHB and other relevant federal, provincial, and community programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and supportive manner
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative, family-centered approach
  • Proficiency with computers, databases, and social media platforms

Working Conditions

  • Travel within Mawiw communities may be required

Note: Compensation will be based on experience and educational background
