The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst,Market Intelligence, to join our Commercial Team in Toronto, Ontario.
This is a permanent hybrid position.
As a Senior Market Analyst, you will provide market intelligence and strategic insights across Vale Base Metals' portfolio. You will conduct macroeconomic, commodity, and pricing analysis, develop market supply and demand forecasts, and assess competitive dynamics to support business planning and commercial decision-making.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market, you will play a key role in identifying market opportunities and risks while helping shape strategic initiatives through data-driven analysis and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain commodity market supply and demand models, including market balances, market segments and regional trends.
- Analyze macroeconomic indicators, commodity prices, premiums, derivatives, and policy developments impacting global markets.
- Conduct competitive intelligence research on industry participants, projects, and market developments.
- Participate in discussions around market opportunities and risks to support short-term and long-term business and strategic planning
- Collaborate with other teams to develop market insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and executive briefings on market trends and outlooks.
- Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
About You
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in market intelligence, market research, commodity analysis, consulting, investment research, or capital markets.
- Experience within mining, metals, natural resources, energy, or related industries is considered an asset.
- Experience interpreting market, economic, and financial data to support business decisions.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Statistics, Commerce, or a related discipline.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of commodity markets, economic analysis, and finance fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data modeling tools.
- Ability to synthesize large datasets into meaningful business insights.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and strategic thinking.
