The salary scale for Professional Support is based on steps that range from $70,228.25 - $87,849.46. Professional Support may receive up to seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $76,947.98.

Responsabilités

As a member of the School of Access, Business, Creative Industries, and Education team, you will:

  • Be responsible to the College/Campus for the development and provision of the Achieve program.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the promotion, planning, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of the Achieve program.
  • Guide learners in the Achieve program through a person-centered process of developing personal goals and action plans for employment, independent living, and social networking. This includes classroom, campus, and community hands-on activities and workshops, including job shadowing and work experience.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in social services or a related discipline. Experience and/or certification in adult education would be considered an asset. Certification as a Career Development Practitioner would be considered an asset.

  • You have a minimum of three (3) years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience. Your occupational experience includes demonstrated experience supporting persons with disabilities, those who are neurodiverse and/or deaf.

  • Demonstrated experience working with inclusion, diversity, equity & accessibility.

  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and promoting team environments.

  • Demonstrated commitment to using a person-directed, neurodiversity affirming and culturally responsive approach to working with persons with disabilities.

  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, assistive technologies.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.

  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students.

Relevant Skills and Knowledge:

  • You demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism.

  • Demonstrated skills in facilitating small to mid-sized groups.

  • You are known for your superior customer services skills and are able to create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction.

  • You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • You are a strong communicator.

  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to program promotion, community building, and admissions processes.

  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to data-driven reports and program evaluation.

  • You demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence.

  • You are dedicated to life-long learning.

  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement.

  • You possess strong facilitation and classroom management skills and strategies.

  • You have familiarity and experience with liaising with schools and Regional Centres for Education.

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a part-time adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees.
