Salary range: $51,248.30 to 60,185.22 annually
Reporting to an Academic Chair, as a member of the School of Trades and Transportation, you will:
- Provide maintenance of shop equipment, and ensure proper preventative maintenance procedures are carried out in our shops.
- Maintain a safe work environment in all areas where students and staff are working.
- Assist in the set up and display of special events.
- Assist Faculty with labs and pre-lab organization.
- Supervise the Pipe and Industrial Mechanic shops throughout service periods.
- Assist with various training opportunities for students.
- Maintain inventory control in the shops as well as the timely ordering of materials to suit curriculum requirements.
- Ensure compliance with shop safety and quality control requirements by following applicable safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assist faculty in the preparation, dismantling and cleanup of workshop demonstrations.
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with all staff and provide effective customer service for all users of the shop and classroom spaces.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a college diploma or certificate in a related discipline such as Industrial Mechanic, Plumber, Pipefitter or Welder.
- You have a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience.
- Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate or willing to obtain.
- You have a basic knowledge of trades operations and safe working conditions.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and email.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
