JOB OVERVIEW

The Safety Manager is the primary contact for all safety, security and training matters at Prime. The Safety Manager is responsible for both operational and educational safety. For Operational Safety, the Safety Manager will be responsible for a wide range of safety duties and will be responsible for providing guidance and support to managers and employees across the organization. The Safety Manager will also act as the primary liaison between external organizations and Prime on any safety/security related matters. For the Educational Safety, the Safety Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Training Facilitators to strategically position Prime as a training leader and provider in the Atlantic region by placing efforts on developing and implementing a variety of new training programs. For Security requirements the Safety Manager will be required to obtain security clearances and accreditation as a CSO (company security officer) to meet client requirements as well as managing security clearances for service technicians

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide health and safety guidance and support to all of Prime's locations, along with guiding and supporting our Service Technicians.

Ensure all locations are in compliance with all relevant Acts, Regulations, Policies and Standards.

Ensure WHMIS/ SDS documentation is up to date in each branch and all vehicles.

Coordinate and ensure Safety Meetings, as required by Provincial Legislation, are held at all branches and action plans are followed up.

Manage individual certifications required for the safe operation of equipment, including but not limited to: Safety Orientation, Fall Protection, MEPW, Forklift, First Aid, Equipment Inspections and other safety-related training. As well as provide Oversight and guidance to the Training Facilitators

Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis for all incidents and implement strategies to address the route cause and causal factors.

Issue monthly safety reports to the CEO and his management team

Ensure incident, accident and WCB reports are submitted in a timely fashion in accordance with provincial regulations and company policies.

Manage all WCB claims.

Collaborate with Managers and Supervisors to build a safety culture among all employees.

Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, Provincial and local safety, environmental and occupational health regulations.

Initiate new processes and procedures which aim to improve the health and safety process.

Perform regular branch visits and complete safety audits of all buildings and vehicles.

Beware and adhere to the safety policies enforced at customer locations.

Ensure all customer management platforms such as ISNetworld, Avetta, SafeContractor, Contractor Compliance are updated frequently.

Continually updating Prime's Safety Management System.

Manage Prime's Vehicle Tracking and monitoring system Samsara

Manage all security related issues for Prime ensuring company compliance for our clients

Manage insurance related requests for Prime and Prime's clients

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Current knowledge of government legislation including but not limited to WCB, Privacy and Human Rights.

Comprehensive knowledge of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI Provincial Safety, Environmental and Occupational Health Acts and Regulations.

Comprehensive knowledge Federal Safety, Environmental and Occupational Health Acts and Regulations.

Experience with disability management, workplace inspection and job hazard analysis.

Knowledge of safety compliance, incident investigating and report protocols.

Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and records.

Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrate a strong ability to plan and exercise control over the amount of time spent on specific activities to maintain effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.

Ability to manage client management platforms such as ISNetworld, Avetta, SafeContractor, Contractor Compliance etc.

Valid Advanced First Aid Certificate or willingness to attain one.

Basic computing skills for Microsoft platform (excel, work, Teams, etc.) as well as e-filing records.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to speak in a public form.

CRSP, CSP or other safety certification would be an asset

Ability to achieve security clearance as a CSO is mandatory

A current and suitable Driver's License and Abstract
