Salary: NP35 (CAD52.31 - CAD64.92 per hour) plus a bi-weekly pensionable Market Adjustment up to a maximum of $415.35 (currently approved until Feb 28, 2027, with possibility of extension)

NL Health Services is currently seeking applications for a Nurse Practitioner to support inpatient units within acute care. This position will work collaboratively with hospitalists and other care providers providing acute care to a subset or cohort of patients currently designated as Alternate Level of Care.

The Nurse Practitioner is part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for Primary Health Care services based on the needs of the population in a Corner Brook health neighborhood. This can include the provision services in a variety of settings and methods including in person visits, virtual care, and visits in patients’ homes including within personal care homes.

The Nurse Practitioner contributes to the quality of patient care through advance practice, education, research, and consultation. Each component of the practice requires an advanced level of clinical judgement and leadership.

The Nurse Practitioner is part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for health care services based on the needs of the population.

The Acute Care/Inpatient NP functions with a high degree of autonomy, reports to the Manager of Hospital & Clinical Services; cardiac and care of older adults and consults with other attending physicians/specialists regarding clinical care as appropriate. The NP works within provincial regulations and legislation and in accordance with approved practice protocols to prescribe and order therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications: Current registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses and current Nurse Practitioner License are required. A minimum of three years of acute clinical experience including inpatient settings within the last five is also required. The incumbent must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships is essential. Experience working independently with limited supervision and in collaboration with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team is required. Current BCLS certification and ACLS certification is required within the first year.

Please note that should no fully qualified Nurse Practitioner be found, consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
