Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Paramedicine Performance and System Integrations, this position is responsible for the analysis of all financial transactions recorded in relation to the contract for Integrated Emergency Health Services (IEHS), including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger. The position will work closely with Finance Operations within NLHS to facilitate processes regarding financial oversight as it relates to IEHS. The incumbent ensures that the financial information from all operational areas is accurate and timely. The incumbent will be involved in various projects from the financial management perspective and participate in internal control reviews as needed.
This position is a resource for the organization's Paramedicine Partnership and Performance Office and will assist relevant leaders with the review of the expenses in their various programs of responsibility by providing additional information and analysis thus assisting with the manager’s responsibility for the stewardship of the organization’s financial assets.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration Degree is required.
- Master’s Degree would be an asset.
- Current CPA designation and membership in good standing with the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPANL)
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in financial management within the last five (5) years is required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Thorough knowledge of financial accounting for Health Services and knowledge of the MIS Guidelines.
- Knowledge of the Meditech financial system.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current financial services practices and processes, and broad knowledge of internal financial controls is required.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (MS Word & Excel) and computerized accounting techniques/practices.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work in a changing environment.
- Ability to be self-motivated and work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position;
- A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority;
