Salary: LX-27 (CAD32.16 - CAD40.20 per hour)

Job Summary
Rotating through Biochemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine and if required, Microbiology, the Laboratory Technologist I performs routine and complex laboratory testing; performs phlebotomy when required; runs Quality Control following established procedures and keeps appropriate documentation. Performs routine preventative maintenance procedures on various laboratory instruments and keeps appropriate documentation. The candidate promotes Patient Safety initiatives through strict application of NL Health Services Policies. Performs other related duties, as required.
Job Demands

Occasionally lifts and/or unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Regularly stands or sits for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports/results.
Visual and auditory concentration are constant and eye/hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness are required.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
Successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technologist national examination in the applicable field(s) of practice, as recognized in Canada, is required.
Current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
