Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac, located in Yarmouth NS, is home to 79 long-term care Residents. We are a provincially funded, non-profit organization that provides 24/7 care. Villa Saint-Joseph has a strong interprofessional team and a new facility (opened in 2015) which allows us to promote a safe, clean, home-like environment for our Resident and care partners.

Responsibilities:

• The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine duties in meal preparation and service to residents and staff.
• The incumbent will be required to adhere to all safety and sanitation rules and regulations and observe good sanitary practices including maintaining equipment and work areas in a clean and tidy condition and reporting malfunctioning equipment to the dietary manager.
• All responsibilities are to be approached in a spirit of teamwork, within and among departments, to ensure cooperation and completion in an efficient manner.
• The incumbent of this position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures and Resident-Centered Care Philosophy of the Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac.

Qualifications:

• Capable of and willing to demonstrate empathy, understanding, respect, courtesy and politeness towards all Residents, visitors and staff
• Physically capable of performing all duties
• Valid Culinary Training Certificate
• Understanding of diet textures, allergies and menu planning is an asset
• Neat and clean in appearance
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Resident affairs and Villa business at all times
• Ability to maintain good attendance and varied availability
• Capable of functioning independently and as part of a team
• Available to work a variety of shifts including morning, afternoon, evening, weekends and holidays

This is a unionized position and is bound by the CUPE Collective Agreement.
