Hours: 75 Biweekly (8 hours; Days, On-Call)

Salary:

NP-35 (CAD52.31 - CAD64.92 per hour, plus a bi-weekly pensionable Market Adjustment up to a maximum of $415.35 (currently approved until Feb 28, 2027, with possibility of extension).

The following Sign on Incentives may be applicable and can be combined:

Job Summary
This position works within the Nurse Practitioner's (NP) scope of practice in the following stream of practice: (Family/All Ages). This is an advance practice role providing professional, analytical and an autonomous comprehensive range of health services to clients and patients including but not limited to health assessments and diagnosis diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic model.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care using principles of primary health care within a health promotion, population health and self-help framework. In the provision of a comprehensive primary health care service the Nurse Practitioner collaborates with an interdisciplinary healthcare team including physicians. The Nurse Practitioner also provides leadership, and education to other health care professionals and students. The Nurse Practitioner acts as a resource leader for their area of practice and participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and protocols.

The Nurse Practitioner position will be assigned to the Community Support Program and will be primarily responsible for working with older adults who are referred through the Home First Philosophy in the rural area to facilitate hospital discharge or remain in their own home and to avoid hospitalization.

Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, supplies, and sometimes children up to 25 lbs. Occasionally, may have to reposition a patient over 50 lbs.
Physical effort also includes regular sitting to conduct patient histories, performing work on the computer and when assessing patients, regularly stands or walks.
When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, dopplers, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing patients, reading equipment/monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on the computer.
Work is subject to time pressures and deadlines.

Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program is required.
Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Nurse Practitioner.
A minimum of five years clinical experience in the last seven in nursing is required.
CNA Certification in Gerontology and/or Community Health Nursing is an asset.
Minimum one-year community health nursing experience is preferred.
Current BLS Certification is required

The use of a private vehicle is required.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's license is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
