The Recreation Therapy Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team who completes leisure inventories, implements recreation and leisure activities. This is based on residents individualized or group needs, skills, abilities, and interests, and provides documentation and communication of resident’s participation and progress. The Recreation Therapy Worker in collaboration with other service staff plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the group activities and special events for Long-term care residents. He/she is also responsible for the safe delivery of the service. Other duties as assigned. The Recreation Therapy Worker reports directly to the Resident Care Manager.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
• Graduation from High School or equivalency;
• Minimum of one year’s experience in providing recreational activities;
• Ability to develop, plan and carry out an overall recreational and social program for long term care residents;
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with the elderly and with clients/residents who may be physically and/or mental disadvantaged;
• Must possess a high degree of energy, initiative and innovation;
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
• Computer proficiency in Meditech, 2.0 MS word and outlook
• The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
Works as part of the interdisciplinary team to assist with creating, maintaining, and evaluation resident’s care plans.
Develops, organizes, and participates in recreational activities for residents and families.
Arranges for special events in consultation with coordinator or designate.
Provides individual instruction and demonstration to residents with special needs.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team regarding quarterly and yearly reviews.
Participate in Resident Family council meetings, staff meetings and other collaborative activities as required.
Documentation: service recipient, event planning, statistics, audits, etc.
Other related duties as required.
