The Department of Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the temporary contract position of Nutrition Support & Practicum Advisor.

Classification: 20 Month, Full-Time Temporary Contract Position
Salary: $62,452 per annum
Contract Term: ASAP to March 3, 2028

Responsabilités

The Nutrition Support & Practicum Advisor will work collaboratively with the Department Chair, Dietetic Program Director, Graduate Studies Coordinator, and department faculty members and administrative assistant to support the department in achieving its Mission, Vision and Objectives.

Key areas of responsibility include dietetic internship placement coordination, ongoing program evaluation related to accreditation and external reviews, implementation and monitoring of Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice (ICDEP), engagement with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics, program promotion and student professional education as well as other duties as assigned. Program evaluation includes the ongoing review of the dietetic and internship programs according to EQual (Accreditation Canada), including the preparation of the self-assessment report when scheduled. It also includes ongoing review of the other undergraduate and graduate nutrition programs.

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining relationships with experiential learning sponsors, and placing all internship and placement students. They will ensure departmental documents reflect EQual and other requirements, including curriculum mapping and ongoing monitoring of course outlines and other documents and/or procedures. Promotion of programs includes a range of activities such as maintaining websites, social media and handout/display currency, and student welcome and advising events. Activities related to student professional education include identification of needs and development of supports for writing of the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam and relevant sessions for undergraduate students, organization of graduate seminars, and orientation sessions for internship and practicum students.

Other duties will include but not be limited to review of the graduate student annual reports, and updating the Moodle resource sites for the graduate and internship programs. The incumbent will also provide information and guidance to current and prospective Mount students regarding internationally educated dietitian registration and licensure.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a relevant Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Health, Education, Business Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of related experience. A Masters' Degree in a related field is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The candidate must be a registered dietitian or be eligible for registration as a professional dietitian in Nova Scotia (Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics).

Membership with Dietitians of Canada is preferred. A commitment to building and maintaining strong relationships is required, as is a commitment to a student-centered approach. Demonstrated experience with problem solving is required. Also required is a motivated collaborator and independent thinker, who has excellent organizational and written and oral communication skills. The candidate should have an interest in dietetic education and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Social Media Platforms.
