Acadia University is seeking an analytical, collaborative, and innovative Systems Analyst, Data and Reporting to join our Technology Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data professional who enjoys transforming information into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making across the University.
Working as part of the Data and Reporting team, the Systems Analyst will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the University's enterprise data environment. This position supports institutional reporting, business intelligence, and data integration initiatives by collaborating with stakeholders across campus to ensure reliable, accessible, and high-quality data.
As the Systems Analyst, Data and Reporting, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain Acadia's enterprise operational data store and data warehouse.
- Build and support enterprise data integrations using APIs, ETL processes, and other integration technologies to facilitate secure data exchange between enterprise applications, databases, and cloud-based services.
- Develop and maintain reporting solutions, dashboards, and business intelligence tools that provide timely and actionable information for academic and administrative decision-making.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and functional leaders across the University to understand business processes, identify reporting requirements, and improve data quality and governance.
- Lead the integration of current and historical data from multiple enterprise systems into centralized reporting repositories.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, data models, and integration designs.
- Work with software vendors and external partners to implement and enhance enterprise solutions.
- Provide second-level technical support for data and reporting systems, assisting Service Desk staff and end users with troubleshooting and best practices.
- Deliver user training and consultation to promote effective use of enterprise reporting tools and data resources.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, data engineering practices, and business intelligence trends while ensuring compliance with university policies and applicable privacy legislation.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, reporting solutions, or business intelligence environments.
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, with experience in schema design, normalization, stored procedures, and SQL (T-SQL and/or PL/SQL).
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Analysis Services and Reporting Services.
- Experience developing reports and dashboards using reporting and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Informer, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of data integration concepts, ETL processes, APIs, web services, and data modelling principles.
- Programming experience with modern development practices, including version control, documentation, testing, and deployment. Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, and PowerShell is preferred.
- Practical experience developing and supporting applications in both Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain clear technical and end-user documentation.
- Strong analytical, consultation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to apply policies, follow direction, and exercise sound judgment when handling confidential information.
- A proactive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
