Position Type: Casual
Location: Saint John
Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour, based on the experience and level of post-secondary education.
As part of the School of Professional & Part-time Learning and reporting to the Business Development Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.
- Control the operation of equipment and systems
- Monitor gauges, dials and all other indicators to ensure machine is operating properly
- Troubleshoot potential operation problems
- Select proper tools for repairing machine parts or systems
- Apply WorkSafeNB safety standards at all times
- Use critical thinking and problem solving skills in carrying out rigging and hoisting tasks
- Manage time and tasks effectively
- Communicate effectively (listening, observation, speaking, writing as required)
- Use the appropriate level of numeracy skills in calculating load capacity
- Work within established guidelines and standards for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
- Assemble and disassemble Telescopic and Lattice Booms
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on equipment as required
- Operate cranes and mechanical boom and cable to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions safely and strategically
Education & Experience:
- Completion of a one- to three-year apprenticeship program or industry courses in crane operating required.
- Mobile crane operator trade certification
- Seeking an experienced and safety-focused Operator with a valid Class 1 or higher licence to operate mobile cranes
- Proven experience working specifically on mobile cranes an asset
- 5+ years of crane-specific experience preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 and air brakes an asset)
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Experience operating mobile cranes and heavy equipment in a construction or industrial environment
Professional Skills:
- Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
- Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- A desire for continuous learning and growth.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
