Position Type: Casual

Location: Saint John

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour, based on the experience and level of post-secondary education.

Responsabilités

As part of the School of Professional & Part-time Learning and reporting to the Business Development Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

  • Control the operation of equipment and systems
  • Monitor gauges, dials and all other indicators to ensure machine is operating properly
  • Troubleshoot potential operation problems
  • Select proper tools for repairing machine parts or systems
  • Apply WorkSafeNB safety standards at all times
  • Use critical thinking and problem solving skills in carrying out rigging and hoisting tasks
  • Manage time and tasks effectively
  • Communicate effectively (listening, observation, speaking, writing as required)
  • Use the appropriate level of numeracy skills in calculating load capacity
  • Work within established guidelines and standards for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Assemble and disassemble Telescopic and Lattice Booms
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on equipment as required
  • Operate cranes and mechanical boom and cable to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions safely and strategically
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of a one- to three-year apprenticeship program or industry courses in crane operating required.
  • Mobile crane operator trade certification
  • Seeking an experienced and safety-focused Operator with a valid Class 1 or higher licence to operate mobile cranes
  • Proven experience working specifically on mobile cranes an asset
  • 5+ years of crane-specific experience preferred
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 and air brakes an asset)
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Experience operating mobile cranes and heavy equipment in a construction or industrial environment

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
