Title: Senior Interior Designer
Location: Ottawa, ON
Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday | Day Shift
Advantage Personnel is currently recruiting for a Senior Interior Designer on behalf of our client in Ottawa, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate design professional with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in commercial workplace design. The successful candidate will lead projects from concept through completion while mentoring junior team members and building lasting client relationships.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead commercial interior design projects from concept development through project completion.
- Develop innovative workplace design solutions that align with client vision, budget, and project objectives.
- Meet with clients to gather project requirements and present creative design concepts.
- Manage project schedules, deliverables, and timelines while maintaining high-quality design standards.
- Mentor and provide leadership to intermediate and junior designers.
- Review shop drawings and oversee contract administration documentation.
- Manage change orders, meeting minutes, payment certificates, and progress claims.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout the construction process.
- Attend site meetings and conduct site reviews to ensure project success.
- Prepare and deliver professional client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or equivalent recognized by ARIDO.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial interior design experience within Canada.
- Registered ARIDO member with NCIDQ certification.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- Experience with workplace/commercial interior design projects.
- Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- LEED AP, WELL AP, or Fitwell Ambassador accreditation.
- Experience using SketchUp and Revit.
Technical Skills
- Advanced AutoCAD
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- MS Project
- Microsoft Office Suite
- SketchUp (asset)
- Revit (asset)
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong space planning and interior architecture knowledge.
- Experience with finish selection, furniture specification, and budgeting.
- Excellent sketching and rendering skills.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and contract administration.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
