At Nova Scotia Power, we're focused on continuously improving how we serve our customers and operate our grid. We're looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Work in Asset Management (WAM) - Customer & Grid Intelligence team, an innovative group focused on reliability, efficiency, and customer experience.

In this role, you will report to the WAM Product and Continuous Improvement Manager and lead end-to-end improvement initiatives, working across teams to deliver data-driven solutions that strengthen operations and enhance customer outcomes. You will play a key role in advancing grid modernization, with a focus on achieving measurable, sustainable impact.


Key elements of this role include:

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead improvement initiatives from initiation through implementation and sustainment using continuous improvement and project management methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
  • Partner with business units to identify, prioritize, and execute process improvement opportunities focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and enhanced customer experience.
  • Design and refine workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer experience.
  • Facilitate process improvement workshops and collaborative working sessions.
  • Coach and support team members in applying continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Develop clear, compelling business cases to support operational and customer-focused improvements.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyze and interpret data using tools such as SQL and Tableau to identify trends, diagnose issues, and generate actionable insights.
  • Restore, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reporting tools, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and business usability.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational and customer performance.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations through clear, data-driven reporting and presentations.

Standard Operation Procedures & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation across a wide range of operational areas.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Partner with teams to implement improvements and ensure they are aligned with business objectives and sustained.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience in continuous improvement, process design, or operations.
  • Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience; experience in the electric utility sector is an asset.
  • Strong experience with SQL is required, while familiarity with Tableau and Lean/Six Sigma is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement, project management, facilitation, or quality assurance practices is an asset.
  • Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to support recommendations and decision-making. The ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Solid computer skills and a willingness to learn new tools and approaches.
  • A proactive, organized approach with the ability to manage priorities and deliver results.
  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to support emergency power restoration efforts if required.
