Position: Casual Environmental Service/Laundry Worker

Hours of Work: 8-hour shifts between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. laundry 7am to 3pm and 9am to 5pm. On-call, 0 to 40 hours per week, 7 days per week, including holidays. Hours and schedule subject to change.

Probationary rate: $18.77 Wages scheduled to increase

Duties:

• Capable of performing a variety of Environmental Service/ Laundry duties.
• Must be able to perform in a busy environment.
• Promote and maintain the safety of residents, staff and visitors at all times.
• Performs duties in a caring and professional manner.
• Must demonstrate ability to work well as a team member.
• Attend in-service programs, education and training sessions and maintains knowledge of the facility's policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety and quality assurance programs by providing constructive ideas and solutions to problems and challenges.
• Attend in-services, educational and training sessions for self-development.
• Attend compulsory fire safety orientation and WHMIS programs yearly.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Good attendance and work record.
• Sewing an asset but not a requirement.
• Good general health which allows for the ability to attend work on a regular basis and meet the physical demands of the position.
• Good general hygiene.
• In accordance with the Organization's Police Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Police Record Check Clearance including vulnerable sector.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to adapt to changing workplace environment.
• Ability to operate environmental service/ laundry equipment.
• Ability to organize workload.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, managers, volunteers, families and members of the public.
