We are currently seeking a Manager, Lawyer Learning and Development to join our People & Culture team based in our Halifax, NS office.
Type of Position: Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity:
The Manager, Lawyer Learning & Development, is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating skills-based training programs that support the growth and success of the Firm's lawyers throughout the lifecycle of the lawyer.
This role ensures that all learning and development initiatives, inclusive of training programs, are aligned with the Firm's strategic objectives, regulatory compliance requirements, and behavioural competencies while fostering a culture of continuous learning, mentorship, respect and professional excellence.
Program Design & Development
Identify and assess current and future learning and development needs in consultation with Partners, Firm leadership, and the broader People & Culture team.
Ensure the program framework supports advancement milestones and Firm expectations for lawyer development throughout the lifecycle of the lawyer.
Program Delivery & Oversight
- Deliver and facilitate in-house learning and development programs and accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions in alignment with Law Society and jurisdictional standards.
- Oversee the successful execution of orientation and learning and development programs , lateral integration sessions, and other core learning initiatives.
- Partner with internal subject matter experts and external facilitators as necessary to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
Collaboration & Integration
- Liaise closely with all members of the People & Culture team to ensure alignment across recruitment, performance, retention, and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with Partners and client service team leaders to integrate practice-specific content into training programs as needed.
Team & Program Management
- Work closely with the People & Culture Coordinator - Legal Talent to support scheduling, program logistics, and communications.
- Maintain a centralized calendar, training resources, and compliance documentation to support seamless lawyer learning experiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; JD, LLB or equivalent preferred.
- 5-8 years' experience in learning and development or lawyer training in a law firm or professional services setting.
- In-depth understanding of lawyer development, adult learning principles, and legal practice environments.
- Experience with CPD/CLE accreditation and compliance requirements across Canadian jurisdictions.
- Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and build strong relationships.
