­Planner

­Key Responsibilities:
In this position you will receive general direction and technical guidance from the Sr. Supervisor - Short Term Work Planning and Scheduling but are expected to exercise a considerable amount of judgment and personal initiative in the performance of day-to-day activities required to implement the program.­ You will be required to perform detailed short and medium term planning and scheduling for Transmission and Rural Operations Island (TROI) Generation and Terminals assets and resources.­

You will work with Frontline Supervisors, Specialists, Managers, other Planner/Schedulers, Engineering, Project Managers, System Operations (NLSO), Customers Services, and external service providers to prepare all work and service schedules and continuously monitor and update work plans. You are responsible to utilize and develop job procedures and maintenance standards as required and promote business process improvement.­ You will also be required to ensure the availability of labour, material, special permits, special tools and equipment, and external service confirmations.­ Specific duties of this position may include:

  • Estimating labour and materials requirements for known maintenance activities and projects
  • Creating PMs, bills of materials, purchasing requisitions, and work orders
  • Identify and procure required parts and materials for maintenance and repair work
  • Developing weekly work schedules for the crews under your responsibility
  • Attending and contributing to weekly planning/scheduling meetings
  • Auditing planned work against completed work and managing backlogs
  • Determining crafts, crew composition, special tools, and equipment required to safely perform the work
  • Contributing to and aiding in the development of the Integrated Annual Work Plan
  • Promoting the planning and scheduling philosophy and process to various stakeholders
  • Developing standard job plans in consultation with asset owners and engineering
  • Using tools such as Gantt charts to aid in planning and scheduling
  • Running reports for management on work management metrics
  • Contribute to planning, scheduling, and execution of the organization's capital program
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program. Responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.

­What We're Looking For:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of other groups.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.

­What You'll Need:
You have graduated from high school and have successfully completed either an Electrical Engineering Technology program or hold an inter-provincial Journeyperson certificate as an Industrial Electrician, with a minimum of five years' experience in an electrical utility environment.­ Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling is highly desirable, as well as proficiency in the use and capabilities of a computerized maintenance management system.­ Experience in JD Edwards E1, Primavera P6, and the Microsoft Suite of Applications is considered an asset.­ A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
