Qualifications:
- Graduation from an approved course in Radiological Technology.
- Must be registered with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, CAMRT, and NLHCP and must maintain registration on an ongoing basis.
- Must have completed or in the process of completing the CT clinical hours and certificate in imaging through CAMRT.
- Experience preferred, in CT procedures and general radiography techniques in an accredited health care facility.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, hazards, and techniques of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, skill in the use of all radiology equipment and CT equipment, and in the performance of required examinations.
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
- Must be willing to train and complete certification in Mammography and PACS if operation needs of the department require it.
Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Performs general radiographic procedures including general radiology, and Fluoroscopic Radiography, and other specialized procedures as required.
- Performs CT Examinations and procedures.
- Operates all equipment with confidence and efficiency.
- Must be willing to work evenings, day shifts, weekends, per departmental schedule, and be an active member of a team of Diagnostic Imaging Technologist covering on call outside the scheduled working hours on the departmental rotation.
- Must assume responsibility for the CT service when required, which includes CT procedures, quality control, equipment maintenance, orientation of other staff members and ongoing educational upgrading.
- Working with a Provincial PACS imaging system, quality controls all of the images in each exam done by the incumbent and verifies all patient demographics are correct before verifying every exam and the images to the Provincial PACS Long- and Short-Term Storage.
- Participates in the departmental equipment maintenance program by performing duties as outlined in the Procedure Manual and as required by manufacturing company.
- Participates in the departmental Quality Initiatives program and assists in the preparation of audits.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of patients, visitors, staff and self during examinations and procedures.
- Troubleshoots all equipment and makes service calls where applicable.
- Protects the confidentiality of patient information and abides by the rules and regulations of the Labrador Grenfell Health Region, which are reflected in its philosophy, policies and procedures.
