Part Time (50%) Position & Casual Opportunities

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Support Services/Dietitian, the Cook plays an important role in serving residents by planning and preparing high-quality meals that support their nutrition, health, and enjoyment. The Cook is also responsible for ordering and managing food and supply inventories, while ensuring that food services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with provincial standards.

In this role, you will:

• Prepare food for daily meals for the residents and staff as well as special events and meetings.
• Ensure food safety by checking and recording food and equipment temperatures, and following standardized recipes.
• Provide guidance and direction to Food Service Workers assisting with food preparation or cleaning tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of the central kitchen, including daily and periodic cleaning of equipment and food preparation areas.
• Work closely with residents and the care team to support preferences and contribute to household events and activities.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in any area of food services, preferably in long-term care or a health care setting.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
