Eating Disorders Nova Scotia is a rapidly growing, community-based organization. We believe that no-one should have to face an eating disorder alone. Each year, we support over a thousand people along their recovery journey. Our supports include peer support groups and individual support, workshops, professionally led groups, support for families, education, resource navigation, and advocacy. This fall we will be opening our first ever dedicated space on Agricola Street in Halifax's North End, and will be offering in-person programming.
We are seeking a purpose-driven Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic team and use your expertise to make a measurable difference for those impacted by eating disorders. As the Communications Coordinator you will lead and execute an omnichannel marketing and communications strategy that brings our mission to life through compelling storytelling, smart strategy, and creative campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the team to develop and implement a communications plan that promote the organization's mission, programs and projects
- Work in tandem with development team so that communications strategies support the three year fundraising plan
- Lead new and innovative ways to enhance and expand the organization's virtual presence and outreach to various stakeholders
- Develop print and digital materials including Annual Reports, promotions, program materials, digital newsletters, and more
- Content creation - writing blogs, articles, posts and more for external audience
- Maintaining the organization's social media presence and websites
- Report on the effectiveness of engagement levels, communications activities, and campaign progress with an eye to continuously improve impact.
- Manage campaign timelines, marketing calendars, and communications workflows.
- Collaborate with teams to support go-to-market strategies for new programs and innovations.
- Act as a brand champion and ensure consistent use of brand guidelines across all touchpoints, ensuring messaging aligns with our mission and values
- Support market and audience research, persona development, and competitive analysis to inform campaign strategy and audience segmentation
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to learn and master new communication formats quickly
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone for different audiences
- Ability to generate and implement new, creative ideas to communicate mission.
- Experience producing digital content
- Exceptional project management skills
- Experience developing and executing successful multi-channel communications strategies
- Expertise in creating and distributing impactful content to targeted audiences
- Attention to detail and dedication to testing
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced, and innovative environment
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong networking skills and existing connections to relevant organizations
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Squarespace, Google AdWords
- Have a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Knowledge of eating disorders and recovery is an asset
