The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an, Senior Specialist, Infrastructure Engineer to join our Strategic Mine Planning Team.
This is a permanent position.
As the Senior Specialist, Infrastructure Engineer, you will be involved in developing and/or apply skills aligned with the specific objectives of the different operational and corporate areas including Mining Engineering (includes tracks for Mine Projects & Reserves, Mine Planning & Design, Mine Production, Mine Ventilation), Geomechanics and Geotechnical (includes tracks for Ground Control, Backfill and Geomechanics Studies).
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Responsible for strategy and direction for infrastructure system designs, modeling, technical compliance, technology application and best practice, and provides specialist oversight of Front-End Load (FEL) studies, long range packages, system operation and troubleshooting to achieve efficient, cost effective and reliable operation adhering to legal requirements and regulations.
- Responsible to create designs appropriate for the application and system function to meet mine demands and strategy.
- Responsible to conduct design trade-offs for optimization and continuous improvement initiative.
- Responsible for selection of technology and establish strategy for long range designs and provide direction to operating sites on best practice and solutioning to ensure quality of systems for all mines and may act as a technical authority.
- Provide expert technical support to the business, studies, operations and/or maintenance teams, to ensure reliable operation of systems, controls and equipment.
- Develops scopes of work and participates in project specification development, design adherence, reviews, signoffs, system start-up and commissioning activities.
- Reviews and/or approves study designs within area of responsibility.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with mine design, mine planning, mine operations and maintenance and peer engineering groups and recommends to leadership for alignment on solutions, gap closure, opportunities, and recommendations
- Contributes to creation of 'How to' manuals and technical standards/procedures.
- Responsible to adhere to competencies and boundaries of the discipline and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
- Embrace empowerment with Accountability through feedback and initiation of own personal development as well as the development of others through training, mentoring, design, correct data acquisition, tool use practices and management of systems.
About You
Education:
- Bachelors in Mining Engineering
- P.Eng is required
- M.Eng is preferred
Experience:
- 10+ years' of work experience

- Scope: recognized master in their professional discipline; national business expert in their field; keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes; technically supervises the most complex work; contributes to development of industry standards; provides strategic guidance to the business unit in their field of expertise; communicates with Senior Levels of Leadership in their work; contributes to occasional publications; acts as a company advocate on national code/policy committees; initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials or other organizations and companies.
- Problem Solving: problems are complex and multidimensional; develops new and novel approaches for solving problems; involved in problem solving for both short-term and long-term solutions; applies expertise to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions
- Technology management: contributes to direction on adoption or development of new technology at the plant level. Potentially leading the development of new technologies.
- Autonomy: limited direction; leads development of technical guidelines.
- Direction provided: direction to more junior engineers, EITs. Acts as technical authority.
