Engineer, Distribution Design

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Capital Budget Process including tasks such as cost estimating, scheduling and report development for current Preventative and Corrective Maintenance Programs.
  • Lead Technical Standards Committee including development of new standards and updates to exiting standards. Chair standards committee and provide support as required to regional offices.
  • Engineering support for grounding design, electrical clearance, line layout, insulation design and equipment specifications (regulators, reclosers, transformers, etc.).
  • Lead project execution (capital and operating) including, but not limited to, planning, scheduling, material procurement, construction management, contractor management and commissioning.
  • Provide technical review and approval for materials and equipment to be purchased for inventory or project specific requirements.
  • Provide Operational support to Asset Management Team for technical requests including, but not limited to, technical failure investigation, CIAC estimate development and outage data analysis, etc.

What We're Looking For:

  • Exhibit the capability to effectively assess situations, formulate and execute solutions.
  • Easily build working relationships.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
  • A minimum of five years of engineering experience in transmission and distribution design.
  • Previous experience in power utility electrical design, project management, construction, administration, operation and maintenance would be an asset.
  • Must possess a valid driver license.
