A TYPICAL WEEK:
Working as part of a dynamic and dedicated Commercial Lending team, the FSO I is responsible for the administration of the commercial loan portfolio. They work closely with managers, solicitors and lending partners in the ongoing maintenance of the commercial lending portfolio. They also provide specialized commercial mortgage administrative and project support to the Commercial Lending department; high quality customer service to clients and credit unions; and promote and cross-sells existing and potential clients on the benefits of using other LSM/AC and /or credit union products and services.
Prepares and processes commercial loan renewal documentation, interest rate blends for refinances and early renewal requests. Reviews files and completes Rate determination form for Commercial Analysts. Contacts members/credit unions to follow up for signed documents and review terms offered, determine solutions to retain business and identify potential refinance and other business opportunities.
Prepares loan disbursements. Works closely with underwriters, clients, credit unions and brokers to ensure required documents are received, accurate and in compliance prior to funding. Reviews legal documentation and verifies for accuracy. Recommends and/or makes appropriate changes to conditions in accepting alternate documentation to fulfil requirements and ensure compliance. Contacts solicitors and ensures legal documentation complete and accurate and special conditions are met prior to disbursement of funds. Processes advances including but not limited to reviewing inspection reports, calculating progress draws/holdbacks and setting up repayment terms.
Verifies, posts and balances ACLSM business transactions including account openings, disbursements, renewals, payouts. Prepares and balances journal sheets and liaises with Accounting to resolve any reconciliation issues.
Follows for and reviews final security documentation received from lawyers and liaises with lawyers to have required correction/amendments made. Ensures completeness and verifies accuracy of all required documents before finalizing the security file.
Analyzes potential lending and/or deposit opportunities involved in each situation to further assist the client. Cross sells existing and potential borrowers on the benefits of utilizing other LSM and/or credit union products and services.
Acts as a resource to the LSM and AC underwriters, commercial/lending services administrators, credit union staff, clients and brokers regarding commercial and lending services procedures and product information. Provides input and assists in the development and implementation of new practices.
Serves as the primary back-up to the other FSO I, Commercial Lending, and assists with back-up of Administrator II, Commercial Lending Services. Participates in cross-training on a regular basis on the other commercial/lending services administration functions and provides back-up to these functions as required. Actively participates in achieving departmental objectives. Develops and maintains procedure guide for the incumbent's position seeking opportunities to improve upon current working practices.
Completes other duties and projects assigned.
As the ideal candidate you will have successfully completed a Diploma in Business Administration plus have 3-5 years relevant lending and/or commercial administration experience in a financial institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
COMPENSATION:
This is a one year contract position and is rated a Salary Level CU-5 with a salary range $59,490- $69,988. LSM offers a competitive contract benefits package as well as the opportunity to participate in the Performance Sharing Incentive Plan.
LOCATION:
This position will be based in our Halifax, NS office, and provides services throughout Atlantic Canada, therefore offers the ability to work remotely as required.
TRAVEL, EVENING AND WEEKEND WORK:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
