Job SummaryReporting to the Manager of Language Access and French Services, the French Services Consultant will assist in the development of French Services within NLHS. The Consultant provides information and navigation in French to the public and responds to service requests in order to support the NLHS?s efforts to better serve its francophone population.
This position will also support new Francophone hires as they onboard at NLHS. The position will further assist in developing communications plans, tools, and strategic initiatives to actively promote French language services within NLHS. As such, the incumbent will play a strategic liaison role with Francophone organizations and communities, the government of NL and other health authorities outside of NL.
The French Consultant supports the advancement and delivery of French language services across NLHS by providing strategic, technical, and operational support to the Manager of Language Access and French Services (LAFS). This role is responsible for conducting research and analysis related to official language minority communities (OLMC), monitoring trends and best practices in French service delivery across Canada, and drafting key program materials such as briefing notes, reports, and work plans.
The French Consultant actively promotes French language services within NLHS and to the public, and ensures relevant data and records are regularly updated to support effective program planning and decision-making. This role also maintains and updates the French content on the NLHS website and monitors local and national media for developments related to French language issues that may affect service delivery.
In addition, the French Consultant identifies potential funding opportunities to support program growth, organizes workshops and public information sessions, and collaborates closely with LAFS Coordinators. The role also includes delivering training and development initiatives focused on enhancing awareness and capacity around French language services within the organization.
Job Qualifications
EducationA university degree in Public Administration, Communications, Business administration or a related field is required; Masters would be an asset.
ExperienceFive years of experience in a related field is required.
Experience with Francophone communities and government relations would be an asset
