We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietitian / Dietary Manager to join our leadership team at Mahone Bay Nursing Home. As a key member of the Home's Management Team, the Dietitian/Dietary Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the Dietary Department. This role involves managing budgets, overseeing staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and most importantly, delivering high quality, resident-focused nutritional care.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, implement, and evaluate nutritional care plans for all residents
Supervise and coach dietary staff, ensuring training and performance management
Coordinate menu planning and ensure nutritional standards are met based on Canada's Food Guide and resident preferences
Oversee department budgets, payroll, inventory control, and procurement
Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and strategic goals
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, licensing standards, and best practices
Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and committees
Educate residents, families, and staff on nutrition and dietary needs
Qualifications, Certifications, and Skills:
· B.Sc. in Nutrition and completion of an accredited dietetic practicum program (or equivalent)
· Registered and in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
· Minimum of five (5) years in a dietary department, preferably in long-term care
· Strong leadership and staff management abilities
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Proven problem-solving and organizational skills
· Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email)
· Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Preferred Assets
Membership in Dietitians of Canada
Training in Dysphagia assessment and management
Experience with regulatory compliance and quality improvement in healthcare
