This is a permanent management and non-union position. If the successful candidate is an internal B contract teacher in ASD-W, the candidate may take the position permanently or, in accordance with the NBTF letter of agreement, request consideration for a secondment from their B contract teaching position. Secondment timelines are at the discretion of the Employer and may vary depending on the position being vacated which will be explained at the time of offer.

Position Overview

ASD-W is seeking a qualified educator for a one-year acting position as Subject Coordinator for Creative Arts and Enrichment (K–12). Reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Coordinator provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning across the district. The role also involves developing and supporting enriched programming for gifted and twice-exceptional students and organizing large-scale events for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The Coordinator will work closely with schools to support the development of Creative Arts opportunities and to build partnerships with local and national organizations in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional leadership and curriculum support in Creative Arts and Enrichment (K–12).
  • Support schools in developing and enhancing Creative Arts programs including building ensembles, band programs, drama and musical productions.
  • Support schools with the purchase and use of specialized Creative Arts equipment, such as musical instruments, lighting, and sound systems.
  • Assist schools in the preparation of grant applications to benefit Creative Arts and enrichment programming.
  • Support schools in creating enrichment plans for gifted and twice-exceptional students, in accordance with ASD-W Policies 350-1 and 350-2.
  • Supervise and guide the work and scheduling of Lead Teachers in the Creative Arts and Enrichment portfolios.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term objectives for each program area.
  • Organize and direct major student-centered events such as the HOLIDAY CONCERTS, Elementary Drama Festival and District Music Festivals, which may require evening and/or weekend participation.
  • Work directly with students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and members of the public at large-scale events, ensuring safe, inclusive, and enriching experiences.
  • Plan and facilitate professional learning sessions, model lessons, and curriculum planning.
  • Coordinate curriculum resources, pilot projects, assessments, and program reviews.
  • Contribute to the District Improvement Plan and collaborate with Subject Coordinators and school administrators.
  • Support provincial and district-level assessment systems.
  • Represent ASD-W in external forums related to Creative Arts and Enrichment.
  • Maintain and build partnerships with local and national organizations that benefit students and teachers in the learning areas.
  • Assist with the annual staffing process.
  • Manage budgets within the assigned portfolios.
  • Travel throughout the district is required.

Qualifications

Valid New Brunswick Teacher's Certificate V or VI and a Master's degree.

  • Minimum of five years of successful public school teaching experience (Creative Arts and/or enrichment-focused experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership in inclusive curriculum and instruction.
  • Experience working with or supporting gifted and twice-exceptional learners is an asset.
  • Experience organizing large-scale student events is an asset.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working with students of all ages (K–12) and the public in dynamic and collaborative settings.
  • Administrative or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Language Requirement: Written and spoken competence in English; French proficiency is an asset.

Salary: In accordance with the Management and Non-Union Policies, Pay Band 7, salary range $91,832 – $111,124 per annum.
