Job Summary
The Clinical Physiotherapist I is responsible for providing Physiotherapy services including pre and post-operative assessment, physiotherapy intervention and discharge planning for patients on these units. Conditions treated include amputations, vascular surgery, and head and neck surgeries. The Physiotherapist is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health care team in the surgery program and participates in rounds and family meetings for the coordination of care and discharge planning. This position participates in the weekend coverage schedule and supports physiotherapy services to the St. Clare's site. The PT will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within Eastern Health.
This position reports to the Division Manager, 5 East, Surgery Program, receives clinical leadership from the Clinical Physiotherapist III and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Physiotherapy for integrity and professional practice issues.

Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities in ICU with critically ill patients and dealing with clients with complex medical conditions.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy program is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in a one to one and/or group environment.
Ability to direct, supervise and mentor students and physiotherapy support workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team and be able to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
