Job Summary
The Project Technologist position is a multi-function position. This position is accountable for planning, scheduling, directing, & administrating capital projects within Eastern Health's Planning and Engineering division. The incumbent will work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to facilitate capital project implementation. This position provides in house technical expertise (Architectural,
General & Mechanical) as well as Project Management expertise to the Infrastructure Support department as a whole. This position is responsible for the effective supervision & evaluation of contractors, manages/schedules and monitors changes on capital projects, estimating and coordinating projects involving renovations, new construction and upgrade of existing building systems, provides technical expertise in the development of specifications and tender documents, ensures compliance of the department's operations with applicable codes and standards.

Job Qualifications
Education
- Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary education program in an general discipline, with Bachelor's degree in Technology or related discipline is required.
- AETTNL certification or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) would be considered an asset.

Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in project management or contract management is required.
- Significant experience working in the general field is required. Experience within a health care environment is considered an asset.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Plans, organizes, reviews and directs work related to major construction and renovation projects through facilitated communication among affected departments.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize work.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and use communication technologies to address small and large audiences both internal and external.
- Ability to utilize best available information to guide practice and develop decision.
- Identifies and addresses issues impacting on services and utilizes appropriate mechanisms to raise and resolve issues.
- The ability to keep issues involving conflict with other stakeholders, managers, and for staff non-personal, confidential and professional. Ability to keep an open mind
- Have an understanding of the legal ramifications of the construction contract and the public tendering system.
- Manage construction activities for the project
- Coordinates logistics and scheduling and performing inspection of the work
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strategic thinking and planning that translates into effective implementations.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict timelines.
- A creative/innovative approach to problem solving and strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to utilize best available information to guide practice and develop decisions.
