Job description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the objectives and goals of Harbour View Haven in the provision of optimal nursing and restorative care; contributing to the establishment of residents' good health, safety and comfort, while working within established nursing philosophies, policies and practices.

An LPN is expected to work to full scope of practice, as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN), when employed at Harbour View Haven.

Job Duties

• Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the supervising nurse or physician.
• Assist with daily living activities for patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions and treatment plans.
• Participate in patient assessments and contribute to ongoing evaluations of care effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Qualifications

• In good standing and current registration with professional regulating body NSCN and working within scope of practice
• Completion of an approved Pharmacy Course
• Experience in LTC environment
• Experience and evidence of providing leadership, and support to staff
• Evidence of positive communication with residents, staff and family members
• Evidence of maintaining a positive and appropriate environment for residents, staff, family members and visitors.
• Experience working in a unionized environment with a collective agreement
