Purchasing Agent

Kerr Controls Ltd. (Kerr) is a leading distributor of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Equipment and Supplies. We have an immediate opening for a dynamic, dedicated and highly motivated Purchasing Agent to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Secure the procurement of product at the most favourable cost and terms, in the most efficient quantities and consistent with standards of quality, to support the demand planning and inventory levels.
• Work with the Logistics manager in selecting the best freight and courier for incoming shipments.
• Work with our supplier partners to provide the most efficient and effective distribution system for their products to our mutual benefit.
• Monitor and expedite purchases when necessary for the timely delivery of the product.
• Follow up on overdue POs and update due dates in the system.
• Coordinate product returns of surplus stock from Kerr branches to vendors and to the central distribution centre.
• Negotiate prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise, where appropriate.
• Maintain product costs and list prices.
• Work with A/P to authorize payment for purchases.
• Create and maintain product records.
• Communicate product and vendor updates with Kerr Staff.
• Work with the Kerr management team to identify new products and product consolidation opportunities.
• As a member of the Kerr team, assist in any way possible to further the success of Kerr and the satisfaction of our customers.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Business administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, ideally in distribution or a wholesale environment.
• Experience with ERP systems for purchase orders, inventory tracking, and vendor management.
• Familiarity with freight and logistics coordination is an asset.
• Proficiency using MS Office applications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
