Real-Time Energy Marketer

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Real Time Energy Marketing, you will be an integral member of Hydro Energy Marketing's 24/7 energy marketing desk. The energy marketing desk is a team of eight professionals who work rotating day and night shifts, while ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of Hydro's electricity and associated products to markets in the northeast US and eastern Canada.
You have a high-degree of personal initiative and professionalism. You will contribute to the formulation and execution of trading strategies that maximize the value of Hydro's electricity exports and associated products. You will be responsible for implementing and managing Hydro's day-ahead and real-time energy schedules in multiple electricity markets, each with its unique set of market rules and conditions. You will act to mitigate financial exposure should planned schedules be interrupted or curtailed. Also, you will be responsible for managing Hydro's transmission service reservations, interfacing with other energy marketing desks, and reporting on events, performance, and positions.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, applied science, math, statistics, or economics. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be accepted;
- Experience in a similar role within a power, gas, or oil trading environment, and a passion for equity and commodity markets, are considered assets;
- Flexibility to accommodate non-standard working hours, including nights and weekends;
- You are able to make sound decisions in an intense and at times fast-paced working environment, and you confidently embrace new technologies.
