We are currently seeking the services of an Anesthesiologist to be based at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL, with an expectation to support regional needs throughout the larger Labrador-Grenfell Health Zone.

Qualifications:

• To be considered, candidates must be eligible for registration and licensure as an Anesthetist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador; the criteria for licensure are outlined on the CPSNL website (www.cpsnl.ca)
• Additionally, the successful candidate must satisfy the credentialing requirements of the Labrador-Grenfell Zone.
• Earned Medical Degree
• Work experience is an asset
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authorities

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

• The general accountabilities of the position include:
• The Anesthetist at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital is a key member of the surgical team, and is responsible for the provision of anesthetic services to surgical patients of the facility, while maintaining services to help support needs throughout the larger Labrador Grenfell Zone.
• The Physician is directly involved in the care of the patient pre- and post-operatively; they assume responsibility for pre-admission anesthesia clinics as well as pain management post-operatively.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care. Patient and Worker safety at the Labrador Health Centre is a priority; as such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to partner with all team members by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
• Coverage of on-call commitments for Anesthesia, including weekends and holidays.
• The successful candidate will work as part of a Team of physicians and nurses to provide the required services identified above.
• Functioning within the scope of practice of an Anesthesiologist.
• Abiding by the Labrador Grenfell Health Medical Staff By-Laws, the policies of the organization, the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and the Canadian Medical Association of Ethics.
