Overview
The Mazerolle Lab at St. Francis Xavier University (www.erinmazerolle.com) requires a Lab Manager for a 12-month term position. Housed in the Department of Psychology, the Mazerolle Lab is an interdisciplinary human neuroscience environment with ongoing projects in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), improving reproducibility in neuroimaging, and neuroscience knowledge mobilization.
Under the supervision of Dr. Erin Mazerolle, the Lab Manager will contribute to ResearchNS and NSERC funded projects that aim mobilize functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) for cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) measurements. Projects include evaluating the reproducibility of the fNIRS CVR method and whether fNIRS CVR is sensitive to brain changes related to concussion.
The Lab Manager will work collaboratively with other lab members and help support trainees. The Lab Manager will also have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers at St. Francis Xavier University in Psychology and Health, as well as a researcher and clinician at the University of Victoria.
This is an in-person position.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include performing quality assurance tests, monitoring inventory and ordering supplies, managing data, assisting with recruitment and scheduling of research participants, assisting with experimental data collection, maintaining research records, preparing research ethics reports and applications, maintaining the lab environment, and other tasks as required. Training will be provided.
Qualifications
- A completed undergraduate degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or a related field is required.
- The ideal candidate will show evidence of taking initiative to keep projects moving forward.
- Experience with human data collection, or related skills and qualities, will be considered an asset. Examples include:
- developing and/or following standard operating procedures (such as instructions in a lab course)
- customer service
- scheduling appointments and coordinating calendars
- maintaining supplies; interacting with suppliers/vendors
- anticipating and proactively preventing challenges

- Experience with research (neuroscience, psychology, physiology, biology, etc.) and/or knowledge mobilization will be considered an asset.

- Training will be provided.
