Safety and Health Lead

Key Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively to support and promote occupational health and safety within Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro's New Developments (Gull Island and Churchill Falls Extension), and facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of a Safety and Health strategy for major construction projects related to New Developments that aligns with Hydro's Safety and Health Management System and associated programs, policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Someone who can exercise a high level of personal initiative and judgment as the lead for Safety and Health within Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro who will work closely with Hydro Quebec in the planning, organizing, engineering, construction and commissioning of two Mega Projects - Gull Island and Churchill Falls Extension.
- Someone who can provide leadership and advice to the New Developments Project Team with respect to the strategy and approach to managing Safety and Health for the New Developments projects.
- Ability to liaise with the Project team, Hydro Quebec, Corporate Safety and Health, Regional Safety and Health resources, consultants, contractors, and the procurement team to establish safety and health management plans, that complies with regulations and aligns with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro's safety management system, to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses.
What You'll Need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Science, Occupational Health and Safety or an Engineering related discipline or have graduated from technical college with a technology related diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, supplemented by additional training in Safety and Health Management.
- You have ten (10) years on large engineering and construction projects with a focus on Electrical Utility infrastructure progressively responsible experience as a safety and health professional.
- You are certified or eligible for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
- You must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
