We are currently accepting applications for Payroll Associate to join our team.

Responsible to the Payroll Supervisor, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in Business, Accounting or related field
  • Certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner
  • Ability to work overtime and on statutory holidays as required
  • Quick and accurate keyboarding skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Dependability
  • Cooperation
  • Independence

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the accurate maintenance and verification of employee payroll records and specified employee banks
  • Provides excellent customer service and quality information to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Assists managers in entering and processing status changes for staff including new hires by creating the employee master file, the appropriate earnings/deduction file set up, and setting up employees in the system to use the time clock if necessary
  • Processes increments for staff in accordance with the appropriate collective agreements in a timely manner and determines and calculates retroactive payments
  • Processes payment for various payroll deduction programs
  • Administers and monitors the annual Canada Savings Plan campaign; collects, processes and submits new applications, maintaining copy for file
  • Administers the annual professional dues payroll deduction and processes annual payment in a timely manner with appropriate documents as requested
  • Processes garnishments and submits funds withheld from employees on a regular basis
  • Submits funds withheld for union dues to the appropriate unions on a monthly basis; submits corresponding reports
  • Processes Grant billings for Grant positions
  • Processes union billings for union business
  • Assists in the completion of WCB Accident reports and forwards required infom1ation to WCB
  • Prints, sorts and prepares pay stubs for distribution
  • Prints and distributes timesheets on a biweekly basis
  • Prints and posts seniority listings as per Collective Agreements

Salary: As per Northwood Scale

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (8 hour shifts)

Effective: Immediately
