SECRETARY, MEDICAL CONSULTANTS

The Secretary, Medical Consultants, is accountable for the provision of administrative support to the consultants in the Health Care Services Department and organizing medical referrals and appointments for injured workers. As WorkplaceNL's Secretary, Medical Consultants, you will work as a critical healthcare team member to support the operations of as the Health Care Services Department to fulfil its mandates.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maintains and controls medical waiting lists for multiple medical disciplines, using appointment referral queues, as well as written referrals.
  • Compiles all appropriate medical documentation and ensures timely and secure transfer of information to health care providers.
  • Provides advice, assistance and detailed information to health care providers and claim owners on the procedures and processes involved in medical referrals
  • Transcribes complex medical reports covering a wide range of medical specialties.
  • Provides administrative support for the Health Care Department such as minute takings, typing letters, compiling provider inventories, etc.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Two-year medical office administration program;
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in secretarial work or medical dicta-typing;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels in the organization, industry and community;
  • Knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Office Outlook is required.
  • A minimum typing speed of 53 words per minute.

Demonstrating a broad depth of understanding of WorkplaceNL's policies and procedures that affect the Health Care Services Department, and prioritizing the many functions of the position.

Working within a diverse environment whereby stakeholder support and people skills are critical to the operations of WorkplaceNL.

Effectively dealing with a variety of service providers and ensuring that problems are addressed in an effective and timely manner.

Experience and an educational equivalency will be considered.
