THE POSITION:
Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Community Relations & Impact Advisor with our Corporate Services team.
Reporting to the Director of Strategy, the Community Relations & Impact Advisor is both a thought partner and a practitioner-supporting the design, implementation and measurement of projects and programs that start with purpose, and are executed with clarity and intention. They are a proficient administrator who supports the stability and success of community-focused programs and initiatives, and ensures they operate in ways that reflect the organization's core values, spirit of excellence, and intentions for positive and measurable impact.
This position will operate in the Events East Group, Halifax Convention Center and Scotiabank Centre facilities.
THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership:
- Actively support the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and communication of inspiring and results-based programs and plans that align with Events East's vision, purpose, and five-year strategy.
- Coordinate the development of annual reports for the organization, including project management, internal collaboration, content direction, and acting as the primary point of contact with freelance writers or other resources, as required.
- Bring curiosity, empathy, and discernment to work with internal and external stakeholders.
Operations:
- Provide project management oversight and/or implementation support on community relations programs and impact commitments, such as Scotiabank Centre's charitable ticketing program and the community partnerships and sponsorship program. Additional programs may include those that align with the organization's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to ensure fulfillment of partner events, activities and commitments.
- Provide project management, guidance and coordination to nurture the long-term success of the Local Program, with emphasis on maintaining a sustainable and strategic approach to pop-up markets and future cultural components.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications team as required, to inform the communication of key programs and results that are helping to enhance the corporation's community leadership, stakeholder reputation, and social and environmental impact.
- Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with community stakeholders, maintain ongoing communication with key contacts, and effectively collaborate with community partners to achieve shared goals.
- Other duties as required.
Administration:
- Support the Director, Strategy to develop and implement monitoring and measurement approaches, and meet accountability reporting and impact measurement requirements.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work within constraints to achieve the best possible outcome.
- Apply strong organizational skills to tracking commitments, progress, and outcomes of various strategic initiatives and programs, including identifying and recommending process or program improvements.
- Navigate ambiguity with calm focus and turn evolving ideas into actionable pathways.
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal formats, presenting information clearly and concisely.
- Analyze information, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, while maintaining objectivity.
Health & Safety:
- Report all safety hazards to the direct supervisor as soon as reasonably possible. If possible and reasonable, take action to correct the safety hazard.
- Report all incidents and near misses to the direct supervisor as soon as is reasonably possible. Participate fully in the incident and near-miss investigation procedure.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, communications, public relations, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional environment with demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, program coordination, or strategic communications.
- Project management certification is considered a strong asset.
Physical Demands:
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and during special events based on the demands of the events industry.
- This position works at a computer station in a standard office setting.
- This position performs a significant portion of its functions seated at a computer.
- This position will occasionally operate within the Halifax Convention Centre and the Scotiabank Centre during live events. The following environmental conditions are present during these times:
- Loud noise from events and guests
- A large number of people to navigate through
- Hot and cold temperatures
- Low level of lighting
- Lighting displays that include strobe and coloured lighting
- Cement flooring and stairs
