NL Health Services Western Zone is seeking the services of an Intensivist or specialist with considerable experience in Critical Care Medicine. The position is located at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Responsibilities include participation in ICU on call schedules and base specialty practice (Internal Medicine and subspecialties, Anesthesiology, and Emergency Medicine).

Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a brand new 164 bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland. We are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Faculty of Medicine and we encourage and support academic interests.

Practice Profile:

  • 8-12 weeks per year.
  • 12 bed, Level III ICU
  • Renal replacement therapy with CRRT and intermittent HD with nephrology backup
  • We are the largest hospital in Newfoundland and Labrador outside St John?s.
  • CT / MRI / Nuclear medicine / Ultrasound / Interventional radiology
  • Teaching opportunities (local FM program, rotating IM residents and clinical clerks)
  • Tertiary services (invasive cardiology, CV surgery, neurosurgery, etc.) located in St John?s

Qualifications Required:

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL),
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and subspecialties, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, or General Surgery
  • Certification in Adult Critical Care Medicine is an asset but not required.
    • Candidates without certification in Adult Critical Care Medicine or equivalent must be able to demonstrate commensurate experience and procedural skills for the position

Remuneration: ICU remuneration via Alternate Payment Plan and Fee for Service and/or Alternate Payment Plan basis for non-ICU service as per the Medical Care Plan (MCP) fee schedule. An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
