Purpose

The Strategic Initiatives team, reporting to the SVP & COO of International Banking (IB), is an integral part of the multi-country Portfolio Management unit. Our team is dedicated to support the execution of IB's strategy by managing capital allocation through investment initiatives (Business Cases), which benefit the Bank's legal entities across Latin America and the Caribbean. This ensures strategic alignment throughout International Banking.

We collaborate directly with business line executives in the IB Head Office, Canada, and the Americas, focusing on investing in the implementation of the Bank's strategy. As a member of our team, the incumbent is responsible to support that the goals, plans and execution of the initiatives in the IB Portfolio are delivered and aligned of the Bank's business strategies and objectives.

What You'll Do:

Business Case Development & Reviews, Committees' preparation & oversight, Portfolio Management Support, Data Analysis, Capital allocation decisions.

  • Support the portfolio of International Banking (IB) strategic projects and initiatives by serving as a key liaison between stakeholders to drive execution, monitor progress, and ensure successful delivery of transformation objectives across the Bank.
  • Perform in-depth financial analyses and synthesize insights from reviews of IB investments to inform and support decision-making by senior executives, including the development of business cases, rebase lines, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Support the governance processes and oversee the pipeline of investment-related requests to ensure alignment with portfolio timelines, targets, and performance metrics.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements and change initiatives to enhance IB's operational efficiency, business performance, and governance practices.
  • Coordinate and deliver strategic support to key stakeholders across IB, including direct engagement with executives to manage the end-to-end investment governance, execution, and reporting lifecycle under the IB Resource Allocation Committee (RAC).
  • Conduct comprehensive business and financial analyses to generate actionable insights and reporting that support executive decisions related to project portfolio management, resource capacity, and financial performance.
  • Foster a high-performance culture by contributing to team engagement and promoting an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
  • Execute daily responsibilities in alignment with the Bank's risk culture, risk appetite statement, and established risk limits.
  • Champion the Bank's risk culture and effectively communicate risk appetite principles across the team.

Drive efficient planning and execution of IB portfolio projects while ensuring robust adherence to business controls and compliance with operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risk frameworks, including the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and Guidelines for Business Conduct.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Accounting or Engineering.
  • CA, CFA, CPA, MBA, or equivalent is an asset.
  • 5 years of relevant experience (financial analysis, management of business investment analysis, business case
  • review).
  • Experience with PPM and/or SmartStream tools is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business and financial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging,
  • and dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal for interacting with stakeholders with varying cross cultural and language differences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams and senior executives.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and build strategic relations with a client focus.
  • Advanced knowledge in financial analysis and ability to convey financial information to non-finance Executives.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Candidate must have the ability to communicate in both English and Spanish as they will supporting teams in both languages.
